ABOUT ME

Karen Philpott

I have been a fully qualified teacher for over 15 years and during that time I was consistently rated an ‘Outstanding lead subject teacher with an extensive subject knowledge and a passion for Psychology'. In addition I am an experienced A- Level Examiner and I have been tutoring on-line for over 5 year.s ( 1000+ hours!). I am proud to say that I am highly respected by my students; which has been evidenced many times in their positive reviews of my teaching and in their learning outcomes. Meticulous lesson planning and organisation of schemes of work and resources are paramount in my teaching. I have high expectations of all my students and see my key strength in being able to impart confidence in them and their abilities. In addition, being a student of psychology myself,  I am fully aware how children learn, and I understand key issues that have to be overcome to facilitate progress. I have worked with many students who have had various challenges to their learning, and I have enabled them to find their own way to succeed; as such I am adept at using a wide range of strategies to both assist their learning and to assess pupil progress, in particular, giving detailed, constructive feedback and targeted examiner style marking.
